Issue with Booting Ubuntu from portable drive.

I can get it to work on my home PC but for some reason whenever I take it to another PC it does not want to boot. I know the machines I am testing are able to boot from USB. I'm not sure what to do, since I kinda need a Ubuntu mobile terminal for an upcoming project. I'm not new to Linux, just Ubuntu 10.04. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I tried r/ubuntu, I really did.

But Ubuntu has just gotten on my fucking nerves with all of its problems for WAY too long now. I made the switch about a year ago, and ever since then it has been nothing but one long string of bullshit. Everything from the sound cutting out completely randomly, until I reboot the machine, to video skips when trying to run .flv files, to the computer logging me off suddenly and without any obvious warning, reason or error messages. Firefox crashes once every 15 minutes, Video streaming is choppy at best from any site other than youtube, and I'm just getting so fucking pissed. All of these problems are things that worked 99.9% of the time while using XP.

What.

The.

Fuck.

How do you guys do it? Is Ubuntu just too strenuous for my admittedly shit laptop?
