Ubuntu News

New guy to Linux here and I've been having some lockups on my new Ubuntu install. Here is what I've learned so far:

• Only happens if I've opened a web browser or currently web browsing. Happens 90% of the time while loading new content in a web page.
• Happens with or without Flash installed. Happens with or without flash content being loaded.
• Typically happens 10-15 minutes into a web browsing session.
• Lockups happen when using Chrome or FF.

I found this mega thread here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1478787 and I tried one of the recommendations of updating my kernel from 2.6.32-24 to 2.6.34-020634-generic no change.

Anybody have any ideas? I've had a buuuunch of crashes in the last week, but I don't know where to check any logs that may have any tidbits of info.

Additional note: this is not a keyboard/mouse lockup like some people experience. I'm always listening to music, and the music skips for 5 seconds and then turns off and the system is completely unresponsive with no activity.

been at this for hours; dont wan't round robin dns, but something like heartbeat? does heartbeat need ultramonkey installed? ultramonkey + ubuntu 10.04 doesnt work very well since last updated for debian sarge in '07. I have tried heartbeat in combination with ldirectord however I can't get the virtual ip to show in 'ip addr sh eth0' listing but will show in ipvsadm -L -n listing.

Which is the best cluster software to run on ubuntu?
